Celebrate Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander Heritage Month & Cinco de Mayo with us!
Socially, we recognize May 12th as Mother’s Day and May 27th as Memorial Day in the United States. These are two days in which people of various cultural backgrounds are honored for their acts of dedication. Mothers can represent a place of safety and those we recognize for Memorial Day have served as representatives for the freedom of others to ensure safety for all people.
Sancho Education Group recognizes that at some point in American history, tragedy and triumph have permeated all cultures. Individuals of Asian, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander ancestry are included in this sentiment. As a word used to identify groups, “Asian” may encompass a growing number of persons that have ancestors from the continent of Asia and surrounding islands, yet others may identify themselves differently. Taking the time to learn about the background of peers, associates, and friends is one way to expand our knowledge and show respect for individual differences.

Hawaiians Fight for Independence
Milestones in Asian American History
El Cinco de Mayo is celebrated annually on May 5th in the United States. The holiday was created by Mexican-Americans who lived in California to remember the fight for independence that led to the defeat of the French in the late 1800’s. The purpose of this day has morphed into a variety of meanings for celebrators who have had a long, sometimes trying, connection with global associations and have made a positive impact in the U.S.
Dr. David Hayes-Bautista gives a forthright and informative presentation of Cinco de Mayo, Latino experiences in the US (EEUU), specifically in the western U.S., historical significance, and more!
